Planting a willow 'fedge' (a woven willow hedge)

Black polythene, approximately a meter wide is laid down to suppress weed growth. Long willow slips are inserted into the soil at least 100 mm (four inches) through the polythene. The slips are then woven and tied with natural fibre string. (the string needs to rot away within two years or cut off after two years)
